It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 2010 Woollaston Nelson Jazz & Blues Festival – a celebration of world class jazz and blues set in our own world class Nelson region.

The 2010 festival brings exciting additions with the inclusion of blues and an extended eight days of free and ticketed events.

Some of the most talented musicians from New Zealand and around the world will showcase their music at a variety of venues and times from street and park performances to bars, wineries, cafes, concert halls and restaurants.

Headline acts include Emma Pask, Joe Robinson, Carol Storey & Torch Songs, Fiona Pears, Billy TJ & friends from USA – Edna Love, Diana Harris, Robbie McGregor Soper and much, much more.

More than 60 events over eight days – it’s a packed programme! The ‘must see and do’ activity guide has been included in the programme again this year.

Abel Tasman National Park

The accessible, coastal Abel Tasman National Park is NZ’s most visited national park. The park blankets the northern end of a range of marble and limestone hills extending from Kahurangi National Park; its interior is honeycombed with caves and potholes. There are various tracks in the park, including an inland route, although the Coast Track is what everyone is here for.

Bronte Country Estate is less than an hour away from the start of the track in the Abel Tasman National Park at Marahau.

Waimea Inlet is the largest estuary in the South Island. Rich in food resources it was coveted by Maori; 33 archaeological sites are known from its shores. Despite its modification, the estuary is considered to be of outstanding biological importance; the abundance of food attracts large numbers of fish; 50 species of wading birds have been recorded and there are rare plants and a carabid beetle found only at Tahunanui Beach.

There are a number of great viewing points of the wading birds in the estuary, but Bronte Peninsular would have to be one of the best. You don’t even have to leave the comfort of your luxury waterfront suite or villa to view these birds as they feed in front of your accommodation.
